One of the most unique cities I have ever been to is Juneau, Alaska.
With a population of only 32,164, Juneau is one of the smallest “cities” in the United States. In a way, it reminded me of a smaller version of my home city, Seattle.
The city had a large emphasis on outdoor recreation, fishing, and cruise ships. When we were there, many tourists were roaming the city.
Juneau also has quite a few ferries that transport people to smaller towns that cannot be accessed by car. When we visited Haines, we flew into Juneau and then took a boat the rest of the way.
We also had the pleasure of taking a ride on the Mount Roberts Tramway. It was a six-minute ride and ascended about 3,819 feet to the top of Mount Roberts.

The locals in the area were also very friendly to tourists. We had multiple people approach our group asking where we were from.
Juneau is a very unique town with plenty to do despite its small size. I would recommend Juneau for someone looking for a more remote experience, and Anchorage for someone looking for more urban trip.
