A few weeks ago, I took a trip to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge with a friend.
It was very exciting and we were able to see parts of Oklahoma that we didn’t know existed.
It took about an hour and a half to drive there from Norman. There were many toll booths on the way, so if you are planning to take a trip there, keep this in mind. We paid about ten dollars in total both ways.
The refuge has a visitors center where you can get a map or asks employees questions. You can also learn more about the history of the area.
We saw plenty of wildlife on our drive through the park, ranging from bison to deer.
It was a very unique experience. In the more populated areas of Oklahoma, it’s rare to see as much wildlife as we did.
I highly recommend anyone from Oklahoma take a trip here at some point. There are some beautiful views from the top of Mount Scott and throughout the park.
It is a great place to visit all year long.
